FUND YOUR AMP EXPERIENCE WITH THE CANADA-ONTARIO JOB GRANT!

  • Did you know that there is government funding available to employers wanting to upskill their employees?

  • With the Canada-Ontario Job Grant, employers have the opportunity to receive funding to support the professional development of their employees. Employers can apply for funding for up to 25 employees to take a course. The grant can cover either 5/6th of the total training costs or up to $10,000 per trainee, whichever amount is less. Essentially, it provides financial assistance to employers to invest in training and skill development for their workforce.

  • We strongly encourage healthcare providers based in Ontario to urge their employers to check out the Canada-Ontario Job Grant application and consider applying in order to help cover the costs of our courses.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

As per the the Canada-Ontario Job Grant application form, the employers who meet the following eligibility criteria can apply:

  • You are licensed to operate your business in Ontario;

  • You are applying to train an Ontario resident you employ or will employ;

  • You are applying for training that will be delivered in Ontario and is related to a job that is also located in Ontario;

  • You are in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act;

  • You are in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial human rights legislation, regulations, and any other relevant standards;

  • You have adequate third-party liability insurance as advised by your insurance broker;

  • You have Workplace Safety Insurance coverage; (*Note that private health care organizations are exempt from having Workplace Safety Insurance coverage and alternative liability insurance coverage is acceptable).

  • You are not a federal, provincial, or municipal government or agency;

  • You are not a designated broader public sector organization, as defined by the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act;

  • You are not a district social services administration board established under the District Social Services Administration Boards Act, notwithstanding their exclusion under the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act;

  • You are not an Employment Service or a Canada-Ontario Job Grant service provider;

  • You are not in receipt of other government funds related to the same skills training for the same individual(s); and

  • You must not use training participants to displace existing staff or replace staff currently on lay-off.

WHO IS INELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

Employees can not apply independently for their own funding. Non-employees or independent contractors would not be eligible to receive funding for training through this program. Publicly funded organizations or employers are not eligible to apply for this funding for their employees.

WHAT TRAINING COSTS ARE ELIGIBLE?

According to the Guidelines, Eligible training costs include:

  • Tuition or other training provider fees;

  • Textbooks, software and other materials required to complete skills training (e.g. training clothing, tools, equipment, disability supports as noted below);

  • Mandatory student fees;

  • Examination fees; and

  • Travel costs

WHAT CRITERIA DO TRAINING PROVIDERS NEED TO MEET?

According to the COJG Application, Training Providers (THAT’s US!)…

  • Must have been in business and conducting training for at least 2 years at the time of application submission

  • Declare any conflict of interest between the employer, training participants and/or product vendor.

  • Within the preceding 10 years, experience working in a profession relevant to the training being provided with:

  • 48 months of experience or teaching a program to prepare a student for the field (or a combination of the two); OR

  • At least 24 months of experience with one of the following qualifications:

  • A Canadian bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree)

  • A certificate of qualification issued under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009

  • Status as a graduate of a college of applied arts and technology or registered private career college (or equivalent institution outside Ontario)

  • Third-party regulatory requirements (if applicable)

As a part of your application, you will be required to submit an attestation form from the training provider attesting to these criteria. WHAT INFORMATION WILL I NEED FOR MY APPLICATION?

The application will ask you for information about the PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY, which you will be able to find on AMP Healthcare Education’s course listing.

ALTERNATIVE TRAINING PROVIDERS

Finally, you will be asked to identify a couple of cost quotes for Alternative Training Providers for the same or similar courses and indicate why you chose AMP Healthcare Education!

We know why you chose us, you know why you chose us, but here are some examples that might help you to communicate why AMP tops the charts on your application:

  • This provider was chosen because they are based in both BC and ON and the training is located _________. (ACCESSIBILITY!)

  • Looking at the amount of learning (contact hours), support available within this course, and/or the expertise of the instructors, this course promises to deliver high quality learning for comparable prices to competitors (COST EFFECTIVENESS!)

  • The training is evidence-informed and focused on the specific skills that we need and want our employers to develop. (VALIDITY!)

  • AMP has been hosting and teaching leading edge courses for the past 8 years. Additionally, we have had employees and colleagues take this course or other courses with this provider in the past with fantastic reviews regarding the learning experience and ability to translate new skills into practice. (RELIABILITY & REPUTATION!)

  • AMP’s Knowledge Project courses are specifically designed to provide learners with the opportunity to practice and consolidate new knowledge and skills. We spread out learning over the course of a month or more and incorporate structured reflection, regular prompting, high frequency touch points, and a chance to, again and again, engage with the material and transfer it to clinical practice while being supported by course facilitators.
